Nisha

Nisha is an artist from Faridabad, Haryana, who developed her connection with art before marriage, inspired by her husband, who was already practising this craft. Over time, they began creating the art together, and Nisha later joined hands with her sister-in-law to continue the practice.

Based in a small village in Haryana, Nisha creates stone dust paintings using waste marble material, transforming discarded stone into intricate artworks. Beyond her own practice, she has trained more than 300 people and helped build a community of artists practising stone dust painting.

This growing community is now involved in government projects, creating opportunities for artists while helping preserve and promote the craft. Efforts are also underway to have this art form recognised with a GI Tag, helping establish its identity and protect its traditional practice.
